Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) Injections

What is Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)?

PRP is a blood plasma that has been enriched with platelets. As a concentrated source of autologous platelets, PRP contains several different growth factors and other cytokines (helps growth of cells) that stimulate healing of bone and soft tissue.

How is PRP Used?

PRP is 100% natual, using your own blood platelets. At Advanced Specialty Associates, we use PRP for skin rejuvenation, skin resurfacing, scars, and for hair loss.  Areas we use PRP injections include smile lines and under the eyes to diminish dark circles. The growth factors and platelets in PRP can help repair the tissues around your eyes, leading to a smooth and renewed appearance.

PRP facial injections "natural filler" gives a youthful apprearance to the skin. One benefit of this treatment is that there is no risk of  allergies or sensitivity as PRP is derived from your own blood. You will see improved skin texture, decreases the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth and eyes, and a natural plumping in the hollowing areas such as tear trough grooves, cheeks, and temples.

What are the Benefits to PRP?

1. PRP facial injections is one of the lowest risk treatments because the process involves injecting a substance sourced from your own body. Mild bruising, swelling or redness can occur at the injection site but usually resolves quickly.

2. PRP improves the skin’s health and regeneration so that dead skin cells are removed faster, giving you smoother skin.

3. When PRP is injected, it repairs the collagen and elastin layer so that the skin regains elasticity.

What to expect:

Our highly skilled staff will first have a consultation to discuss desired results and frequency of your PRP facial injections. Next , you will have blood draw.  After about 10 minutes of processing your blood in a centrifuge to get that "liquid gold", your provider will be able to inject your PRP into the areas of concern. To maintain your PRP results, you can schedule follow-up treatments as needed. We do recommend a series of three treatments to start spaced six to eight weeks apart.
